SUBURBAN MOTEL

Actual Cases

The topic of unemployment is one of the topics being used in George F.Walker’s “Suburban Motel” and is as well a tough and current topic in Germany. Unfortunately, some people already could not stand this pressure anymore and ended up in a real drama like in our stories of George F. Walker.

The current unemployment rate in Germany is about 8,5% in February 2009. For further information, please check the statistic of the “Bundesagentur für Arbeit” at the bottom of this page or visit their homepage (Links).

Also the topic of childcare and the Child Protective Services are being discussed more and more in public, as unfair or wrong decisions are made and the results of them end up quite cruel.

Three actual cases which occurred in Germany are listed below.

Uwe N.—Victim of unemployment

After two years of searching non-stop for a job and being always refused because of his age, he could not handle it anymore and killed himself in the age of 54 years in august 2006.

Thomas G.—killed himself and his parents

Following a nightly fight in October 2008 with his parents about his unemployment, after he quit his job due to non-payment, he seemed to be freaked out and firstly stabbed his parents and afterwards himself to death

Family Schmidt—lost their child due to own health problems

The couple, both having health problems, had two wonderful daughters, one being handicapped. The parents took care as well as other parents do and asked for a little help from pro-familia and the Jugendamt. The result for asking was the loss of the healthy child, as it was said that they were not able to really take care of her. However, an expertise of the court does not agree with this decision and both are fighting now for the custody of their daughter.
